Selfridges Department Store, London

Recently we have supplied the windposts to Careys PLC for the iconic Selfridges in London. They are undergoing a major refurbishment and renovation programme which is the biggest ever investment for a single project by a department store, anywhere in the world.

These works kick off with the demolition package to create a new entrance way for large vehicle deliveries and provide access and egress via two new access ramps and a tunnel, between Selfridges’ existing store, and the recently purchased Nations House.

CE Marking

CE Marking of Masonry Support and Windposts

WINCRO are fully compliant to BS EN 1090-1 with all our fabricated stainless steel structural products being manufactured to this standard and carrying the CE Mark.

Wincro is certified to undertake welded fabrication work to Execution Class 2 to EN 1090-2. This covers the majority of applications and is the default class when unspecified for most building projects.

Wall ties are already fully compliant to BS EN 845-1 and carry CE marks on their packaging.

We have been working hard over the past few years to attain CE Marking of our extensive product range, which has involved a major programme of independent product testing and external audits by Notified Bodies.

A copy of our Approval Certificate relating to EN 1090 and supporting Declaration of Performance are available on request.

Chetham's New School of Music, Manchester

Chetham's New School of Music, Manchester

Wincro have been proud to supply the new Chetham’s School of Music, the largest and premier Music School in the UK.

On a site dating back to 1421, the new £36m six-storey extension created a new school of music, constructed adjacent to the existing Chetham’s campus. The new exciting school comprises of a variety of diverse functions including: a concert hall, recital hall, school dining hall, foyer, music school, academic school and school library.

Wincro designed and manufactured a wide range of brickwork support systems for this attractive six-storey building with intricate details, including the project’s most striking feature; a bold five metre cantilever wall that runs the full length of one façade.

At openings along the length of the wall, special Wincro Soffit Angles fix to the underside of the structural beam to support the brickwork from above.

Wincro’s continuous support angle was supplied in short lengths, to allow for the curve of the structural steelwork and concrete frame.

The depth of the fixing brackets varies to suit the cavity size at each fixing location, which ranges from 50mm to 300mm. In order to minimise site delays and installation difficulties, the Wincro system was modified prior to manufacture to suit the findings of a site cavity survey.

Chetham School of Music was designed by architect Stephenson Bell and constructed by Sir Robert McAlpine.
